the Reblog 007: London flat's good with wood
qgt1.jpg

This kick-ass bi-level London apartment by Hogarth Architects makes heavy use of timber, and was "designed as a large piece of furniture to provide all the functions required by a man about town." Kitchen, living room and original fireplace downstairs; bedroom and swanky shower up on the mezzanine. If I lived here, I'd blog more, because I'd never go out.

Can you review more consumer gadgets so I can cut and paste them for my work? Thanks in advance.

Hey, go to hell, Joo! This is a test, I'm trying to convince a website I can produce a new section. If I can't find some new work soon I'm going to be a lot thinner the next time you see me.

I hear you. I'm about one month away from taking on a fucking full-time.

Why don't you self-publish that book at lulu.com or something? You have all that content that's just sitting there! Unless self-publishing kills your chance of real-publishing. But anyway, I heard these days if you get picked up by a publisher, they'll but zero dollars into marketing, so DIY is better anyway.

I would, but the only problem is the book kind of, well, sucks. Trying to shore it up but am not quite sure what I'm doing.

In a parallel universe I sell crack and eat well.

Why don't you just send them to core77.com? Unless it is them you are talking about and I am foolishly making this presumptuous suggestion.

Thanks for the info/website/inspiration. Though I agree with other internetted comments that the wood feels awfully heavy (what if it was light-colored wood? The whole structure could appear to float. Or ebon color? A dramatic meeting of line pressures...), I like the overall idea of it. Those stairs harkening back to the arts&crafts movement and the Greene Brothers, the general setup and flow of living area. I'd love the opportunity to walk through it. Even that ridiculous cornice is made to work with the second-floor tops just grazing below the ceiling and offering light.
